About
Liz Bunting
UKCP Accredited Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist · MBACP

Since 2012 I’ve worked with emerging adolescents and adults struggling with stress, depression, extreme anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem and low confidence — feeling angry, numb, lost or vulnerable, or like there’s nowhere left to turn.
My approach is integrative: I draw from a variety of theories and select whichever is most useful and relevant to each individual’s needs and preferred way of working. This usually starts with building a therapeutic relationship, and may include working with metaphor — depending on what matters to you.
My belief is that everyone has the capacity to live a constructive life and keep developing across their lifespan, given the right environment: therapy that’s solution-focused, with attention to relational skills and a growing sense of awareness and accountability.
I’ve also worked with athletes at club, regional, county, England, GB and international level across basketball, cricket, football, hockey (field and ice), swimming and volleyball — alongside my work with teenagers and young adults more broadly.
How I got here
My journey began volunteering with ChildLine/NSPCC in Manchester in 2006, followed by training placements with Beacon Counselling — a charity based in Bramhall, Stockport — and within an NHS primary mental health team.
Kaleidoscope Psychotherapy was founded in 2012, in Hale, Manchester. From 2016 I’ve provided a mix of indoor and outdoor therapy across Cheshire, adding online therapy from March 2020. Many clients now attend outdoor forest and nature-based therapy in beautiful, peaceful natural spaces such as Bickerton Hills, Peckforton Hills and a private wood near Cholmondeley Castle.
I hold an enhanced DBS/CRB clearance confirming my suitability to work with vulnerable adults and adolescents, and I hold professional liability and indemnity insurance, recognised by health care insurance providers including Aviva, AXA and WPA.
